D-Blog Week: What They Should Know

Third Annual Diabetes Blog Week! What is one thing you would tell someone that doesn’t have diabetes about living with diabetes? The first thing that popped into my head when I saw that question was a great quote from my buddy George Simmons.

Imagine having to pump your own heart because it didn’t do it by itself. And when you want to sleep you have to pump it slower. For exercise you would have to speed it up. You would have to know the rate of pumping for every activity. Do you think you could do it? Do you think it would be easy?

I love that.

  1. Diabetes Hallmark! That would rule!!!!

Thanks for including me in this. I am like a wise old monkey or something. Like a magic ferret that comes up with weird sayings now and then. But then starts swearing and eating bacon.

    I’m nuts.

  2. I love this! I have never heard it before but will definitely be sharing!! Can we have t-shirts? Posters? So simple and so very true!

  3. A coincidence? Perhaps…. Today at a painting luncheon I used THIS quote of George’s to explain to a group of ladies the difficulties of Type 1 and why even though I have a “fancy” pump I still need my Diabetic Alert Dog to keep me from passing out !!!
