I Punched Scott Strange

Scott Strange

Did I ever tell you guys about the time I punched Scott Strange?

It was more of a sharp elbow jab, and it hit him just below the shoulder.  He didn’t see it coming, and it surprised the heck out of him.

A couple of years ago, he and I were on the same connecting flight from Washington D.C. to Chicago, coming home from the JDRF Government Day.  Like many DOC related trips, it was awesome and exhausting.  By the time we hit the airplane, I was totally spent, and it didn’t take long for me to start dozing off.

I was leaned against the window on my left side.  Dr. Strange (not really a doctor, I just like calling him that…) was in the middle seat on my right side.  I had my arms crossed and my head was hanging forward and against the window.

And then it happened.

You know those couple of minutes between being fully awake and being fully asleep?  Have you ever had a dream that made you jump during that in-between time?

I don’t know what happened in my dream, but boy did I jump … and caught Scott with a hard elbow jab as my arms went flailing around.  POW!!!  He jumped nearly as much as I did!

I was so embarrassed.  But it was pretty damn funny.  He won’t let me live it down either.  Every time I see him he says his arm still hurts.  He refuses to sit next to me anymore, and not just on airplanes…

Thank goodness it was Scott!  I mean, can you imagine if it was some random stranger?
